If you are travelling from Saudi Arabia to Syria — whether to visit family, for tourism, or for business — a rental car gives you freedom that taxis and arranged transport cannot. This guide explains, honestly, how renting works for Saudi visitors and what Auris covers on the ground.
Where Auris operates in Syria
Auris serves Damascus and Damascus International Airport. Pickup is available in Damascus city (areas such as Kafr Sousa and Qaysar) and, when the service is available, directly at the airport. Delivery to a hotel or address inside Damascus can be arranged on request, subject to vehicle availability. We do not claim offices in cities we do not operate in — if you need to travel onward to another Syrian city, tell us in advance and we will explain what is and is not possible.
Documents for Saudi nationals
Bring your passport and a valid driving licence. A Saudi national licence is generally accepted for short visits; if you want extra certainty, an International Driving Permit alongside it removes any doubt at checkpoints. The main driver should be at least the minimum rental age, and the booking should be in the driver's name.
Arriving by air vs. driving in
Most Saudi visitors fly into Damascus International Airport, where airport pickup can be arranged around your flight time. If you prefer to drive in overland through Jordan, the Nassib–Jaber crossing is the usual route; in that case it is often simpler to arrange your car once you reach Damascus rather than at the border. Send your flight or arrival details on WhatsApp and the team confirms the meeting point before your booking is finalised.
Choosing the right car
For city visits and family trips, an economy car or a mid-size SUV is usually the practical choice. Larger families and luggage suit a van. For business or premium travel, VIP vehicles are available, and a private driver can be requested if you prefer not to drive yourself in unfamiliar streets.
Payment and booking
Auris does not take online card payment — the team confirms your reservation manually, which means you talk to a real person before anything is locked in. You can check live availability and prices through the website search, or send your dates and pickup point on WhatsApp and get a direct answer in Arabic.
Book early for summer, when family visits peak and the best cars go first.
